Solar Rebate Malaysia 2026: How to Claim Up to RM3,000 Under SuRIA Home
Last Updated: 13 October 2026
Thinking of installing solar panels at home? Good news! The Malaysian Government has introduced SuRIA Home, a solar rebate programme that offers eligible homeowners a one-time cash rebate of up to RM3,000.
If you’re planning to switch to solar, here’s what you need to know about the rebate, who qualifies and how to receive it.
What Is SuRIA Home?
SuRIA Home, short for Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance Home, is a government initiative introduced in May 2026 to encourage more Malaysian households to adopt solar energy.
The programme offers a cash rebate to eligible homeowners who install solar PV systems under Solar ATAP (Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme).
With Solar ATAP, homeowners can generate electricity using rooftop solar panels, use the energy for their homes and receive electricity bill credits for eligible excess electricity exported to the grid.
How Much Solar Rebate Can You Receive?
Under SuRIA Home, eligible homeowners can receive RM600 per kWac, up to a maximum of RM3,000.
Here’s how the rebate is calculated:
| Eligible Solar AC Capacity | Potential Rebate |
|---|---|
| 3 kWac | RM1,800 |
| 4 kWac | RM2,400 |
| 5 kWac | RM3,000 |
| 6 kWac | RM3,000 (maximum) |
For example, a home solar system with 6.25 kWp of solar panels does not automatically qualify for RM3,000. The actual rebate depends on its eligible AC capacity and programme requirements.
Who Is Eligible for the SuRIA Home Rebate?
According to the government’s published requirements, applicants must meet conditions including:
- Be a Malaysian citizen.
- Be an individual low-voltage domestic TNB customer.
- Install and successfully commission a qualifying solar PV system under Solar ATAP.
- Not have received previous government solar assistance or rebates, including the earlier SolaRIS rebate.
- Meet the programme’s application requirements and deadlines.
The rebate is limited to one claim per eligible individual and is subject to the available allocation.
When Is the Deadline?
The SuRIA Home rebate programme runs from 1 June to 31 December 2026, subject to the available allocation.
Your qualifying solar installation must be successfully commissioned with TNB by 31 December 2026, or before the rebate allocation is fully distributed, whichever comes first.
As the rebate is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, homeowners should check the latest programme status before proceeding.
How Do You Receive the Rebate?
The process generally involves:
- Check your eligibility. Confirm that your home and TNB account meet the Solar ATAP and SuRIA Home requirements.
- Plan your solar installation. Consult a solar provider to determine a suitable system based on your electricity consumption and property.
- Complete the required application and installation process. Your solar system must be successfully commissioned under Solar ATAP.
- Follow TNB’s rebate instructions. Eligible customers will receive an email through their registered TNB contact details requesting the necessary bank account information.
- Receive the cash rebate. Following successful verification, the rebate will be transferred to the registered TNB customer’s nominated local bank account.
Can Businesses Apply for the RM3,000 Rebate?
SuRIA Home is designed for qualifying domestic customers, not commercial or industrial electricity accounts.
However, businesses investing in solar energy may be able to explore separate green investment tax incentives, subject to the applicable rules and eligibility requirements.
For business owners, solar PV can also help reduce reliance on grid electricity during operating hours, particularly for facilities with high daytime energy consumption.
